A new opportunity has arisen for a Red Hat Linux Migration Engineer to join our Infrastructure Operations Team. This role will focus on migrating systems from Red Hat 7 to Red Hat 8 within our environment. The ideal candidate will possess strong leadership qualities, technical prowess, and excellent communication skills.
Responsibilities:
- Lead and execute the migration of systems from Red Hat 7 to Red Hat 8.
- Maintain and update Red Hat 8 standard operating environment and build images/templates as needed.
- Troubleshoot and resolve migration-related issues promptly.
- Generate comprehensive documentation outlining migration processes and services.
- Collaborate with internal teams and external partners as necessary to escalate and resolve incidents.
- Report directly to the Project Manager and work closely with various stakeholders including Red Hat Project Manager, Incident Manager, Change Manager, Problem Manager, Service Delivery Manager, and CMDB Manager.
Key Duties:
- Actively participate in the migration of Red Hat servers and workstations.
- Configure and manage directory services such as IDM and OpenLDAP.
- Oversee configuration management systems including Satellite and Ansible.
- Develop and implement Ansible playbooks for automation purposes.
- Maintain Red Hat 8 builds and baselines.
- Initiate changes in the ITSM system to support migration activities.
- Manage software upgrades, patches, and hot fixes on servers.
- Provide L3 incident resolution, problem resolution, and change implementation.
- Collaborate with third-party suppliers and the central IT department for troubleshooting.
- Create and maintain relevant documentation/manuals describing the system and infrastructure.
Employment and Technical/Certification Requirements:
- Minimum 8 years of professional experience in relevant ICT domains.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with Red Hat 7 & Red Hat 8 Enterprise Linux.
- Minimum 3 years’ experience with Ansible/AAP2.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with Red Hat Satellite.
- Minimum 5 years’ experience with Red Hat Identity Manager (IdM).
- Proficiency in scripting languages (e.g., ksh, bash, perl, python, ansible).
- Experience supporting Linux tooling (e.g., Centreon, Nagios) would be advantageous.
- Familiarity with Packer and VMWare.
- Knowledge of server virtualization software such as VMware vSphere and VMware ESX.
- Ability to support and install Linux servers and workstations in VMWare environments.
- Understanding of infrastructure as code principles.
- Experience in migrating OpenLDAP to IDM is desirable.
- Familiarity with VMware vROps is a plus.
- Excellent communication and documentation skills.
- Knowledge of ITIL V3 processes.
- Red Hat valid certification (RHCSA or RHCE) would be beneficial.

- Proficiency in English (Minimum B2, Ideally C1).
Location:
- Preferably Belgium, though other locations will be considered with occasional travel.
